Her eyes grew heavy as she slowly dozed off. For once her bad dreams were chased off by his warmth and his soft voice. She held onto him tightly in her sleep like he was the last bit of protection she had.
She awoke the next morning to the sunlight kissing her face, she sat up and rubbed her eyes with a big yawn

L slept soundly for a few hours, then awoke. However, instead of getting up to do more investigation work as he normally would have, he stayed with the small girl next to him and held her close.
When she awoke, he smiled sweetly at her.
"Sleep well dear?" He said in a genlte whisper

she smiled and hugged his neck tightly with another small yawn,
"uh-huh.." she nodded
she stood up and stretched hopping off the bed and went wondering down the stairs and saw Watari,
"good morning sir." She politely bowed and normally she never greeted him

Watari smiled at her. "Well, good morning miss!" he smiles and politely bows back. "I do hope you're hungry, there's a large breakfast prepared."
L followed Yuki, holding her small hand in his. "Hear that, dear? ^_^ " He pat her head in a loving manner.

She smiles,
"Actually I am kind of hungry!" she smiled up at L holding his hand back tightly.
She seems a lot more happier and shes more open with him

L smiles sweetly at her and pulls out a chair for her, then put a large plate of pancakes and strawberries down for her.
He sat next to her and began to eat himself, popping a strawberry in his mouth.
"I'm glad to see you in a better mood dear ^_^ "

She smiled up at him,
"L you really like strawberries and cake~!!"
She giggled and began eating her strawberries as well.
Later that day she saat on the couch next to L as he began unfolding her brother's death,
"so.. did you ever find out what was in that box...?"

L sat in the peculiar way he sat, smiling at her but looking at the computer screen in his perriphial vision.
"Well, dear, your brother once helped me solve a case...he used to be an accountment at a bank, but when the mayor of the city you once lived at was murdered by a serial killer, I was called in to help...but that murderer was sent to prison...so who else..."
He put his thumb to his lip, staring up at teh ceiling in thought

"but.. that doesnt answer my question... did you open the box that he gave me...?"
she asked a bit discouraged rubbing the back of her neck,
"He told me to give it to you if something ever happened to him... but there isnt a key for it.."
SShe looked down silently

L pulled out the small case.
"No, I haven't opened it. Knowing your brother , it's most likely set up so that the key has to be used, otherwise it might self destruct. But the key, we do need to find it. There could be valuable information in here for the case. . ."
He gave her a faint smile and pat her head. "Don't worry, we'll find the key. See, I always kept an extra one."
He walks over to a drawer and opens it, pulling out a small silver key. "It took me ages to find this. . .well dear, would you like to open it?"
He offered it to her.

She smiled,
"Really...?" she asked gently taking and staring it over for a minute
"So.. do you purposely think Takumi left this...? did he know he was going to..." she grew silent as she looked down,
"Did Takumi know he was going to be murdered...?"

L put his hand on her shoulder and gently stroked her hair. "I'm not sure, dear..." He spoke in a gentle voice as he put the key into the slot
He twisted the key and a soft "click" could be heard.
He slowly opened the small box, and out fell a flash drive was revealed, as well as a picture of Yuki and Takumi when they were younger. The two were smiling, laughing -- like a family.

She looked remembering the days they took the photos. Also another picture fluttered out landing on the floor, it was none other than Yuki's parents. Yuki silently picked up the pictures of her and Takumi and her eyes filled with tears as they ran down her cheeks,

L put the flashdrive in his pocket for a later time to look at.
L remembered very well losing his family to such tragedy.
He hugged Yukiko gently, holding the small girl close to him. "Dear...we'll frame the pictures, and you can keep them forever..memories never die, and you'll always keep them in your heart..." He whispered into her ear gently. "They'll never actually leave you."

She cried even harder into his chest,
"L...I-...I want Takumi back...." She bawled gripping onto his shirt tightly as she lost all the words she was thinking and she collapsed onto her knees hugging the picture of her and Takumi, and once again her world fell apart...
