L stares into her blue eyes; it's always been said that the eyes tell all. He could see that she was scared - scared, but willing and ready to face that horrific memory.
He pulled her up into a hug, brushing his lips against her cheek. "Alright, dear..."

She hugged back tightly her cheeks pink, "Thank you so much L.." she murmured silently. Upon arriving Yuki sat up in her seat of the car as they pulled up. The old little cottage looked the same the day the death happened, or.. murder. The grass was grown up around the house up to the second porch step and the door was cracked open. All of Yuki's memories about her and Takumi came flooding back. How they use to roll down the big hill down to the meadow, and afterwords they would laugh and help each other up. They had a strong sibling bond- one that was broken too soon.

Upon arriving at the small cottage, L could see that Yuki was remember all the time she must have had of her brother. It looked like a nice, cozy home, perfect for two siblings to stay in.
L could imagine that the two were quiet happy living with each other, even without their parents around anymore. He faintly smiled at the scene he imagined in his head - the child Yukiko and her older brother, outside in the woods together exploring.
He gazed inside of the house; it had obviously been abandoned for several years, as it was filled with dust.
He held her hand tightly, letting her know that he was there for her.

When they walked through the tall grass on their way to the porch she said nothing. Her hand held tightly to his as she peeked in the house she gasped. Her brothers blood remained on the floor. Of course the only thing there now was a stain on the floor where he laid and died. Yuki's eyes teared up as she gasped in horror, the past showing its ugly face.

L noticed the blood stain, and held Yuki's hand tightly. He knew that it must have been hard for her to look at such a thing...he had felt the same when he looked at the ashes of his childhood home so many years ago.
He kneeled down and moved her bangs out from her eyes. "Dear...it's alright..." he whispered soothingly.

She pulled away a bit violently, once again she was reliving her brothers death, "L...I....." her tears ran down her cheeks, "DAMMIT I WANT TO KILL WHOEVER DID THIS!!" she cried as she violently pounded her fists into the wood floor where her brother's blood stain taunted her. Her knuckles turned white and eventually bloody as she continued pounding them into the floor

L's eye widened at her snapping. He was expecting this; one can only hold in emotions for so long until they erupt. But hurting herself wasn't doing Yuki any good.
He gently picked her up off the floor. "Yukiko, dear, don't hurt yourself..." he kissed her torn knuckles gently. "The person who did this, they will get the death penalty one way or the other..."
L had never been so serious in his life. He hated seeing Yukiko upset, and wanted to see her at peace. One can never be at peace with the death of a loved one until justice is served. And justice hadn't been delivered -- not yet anyway

She clutched her fists tightly for another moment but soon released them as she collapsed into his shirt sobbing, "Ryuzaki..... Im sorry....." she whipped her eyes as she looked up at him, "I- Ill take you to his bedroom...."

L completely understood what she was feeling. The rage, the agony, of being reminded of the wrongful death of a loved one. It wasn't easy, by any means. There was no such thing as accepting the death of a loved one and moving on. That was just an ideal. . .One that in theory worked, but in reality didn't.
One never forgot those that passed away, the memories never faded.
"It's arlright, dear," he spoke soothingly, hugging her supportively. "Only take me there if you're sure. . ."

She sobbed trying to bite her lip and keep more tears from spilling, "..." She grabbed his hand and led him to the back and there was a dusty empty room, "The police cleaned everything out.. they let me keep his old stuff though.." She looked around and there was still a bed and dressers

L quietly observed Takumi's old room. It was easy to tell that no one had been in the cottage for years, let alone the bedroom. Everything was covered in layers of dust, and there was no sign of life whatsoever in the room, save for any dustmites.
The window was dirty, and the view of the yard was distorted.
He held Yuki's hand tightly, trying to think of the words to say. But what could be said of such a tragedy? What could be said to comfort someone in this type of situation? Perhaps wwords weren't the best at this moment, he reasoned.
He pulled Yuki into a tight and gentle hug, gently running his hand along her back. "It's alright, dear. . ." He spoke in a comforting tone to her.

Yuki felt the warmth of him wrap all around her as he held her tight, she wanted to cry but at the same time she felt a strong presence of Takumi and she knew she had to be strong for him, "do you think.. with all the dust you can find evidence...?" she sounded a bit hopeful in her tone of voice.

Though L had never been one to believe in things like ghosts or spirits, he knew that Yuki wanted some comfort. Besides, he could be wrong. . .he had been wrong before.
He nodded and gave her a hopeful smile. "Yes, I'll collect samples from a few things. . .and we'll test for fingerprints other than yours or his. . .and then we'll match any up to the criminal "
He gently ran his fingers through her white hair, staring into her blue eyes. "I promise, we'll catch him. . ."

A smile with a sigh of relief escaped from Yuki, "Thank you so much L.." She wrapped her arms around his torso tightly laying her head against his chest. She looked around the room careful not to touch anything to leave fingerprints and she sees a picture of her parents and Takumi that Takumi has always had beside the bed, "Wow.." she gently picked up the picture carefully, "I cant believe its still here.." she gave a bit of a smile.

L noticed the picture -- they looked like such a nice family. He wondered what had happened to Yuki and Takumi's parents. They looked like they were nice people, and more than anything, they seemed to b e so happy. In the photo, he saw how joyful Yuki looked.
He smiled and put his hand on her shoulder. "You can take the pic with you, dear ^^ We can have it framed if you like."
